STROUP, Jess M., 65, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, September 18, 2016 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born September 8, 1951 in Springfield the son of Normand and Medrith (Benner) Stroup. Jess was the Assistant Fire Chief at the Springfield Air National Guard for a number of years retiring in 2011. Leaving behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Terry (Muncy); two children, Dan & Marsha Stroup and Jennifer (John) Sedlacek; stepdaughter, Lori & Ronnie Stanley; grandchildren, Abby, Mya, Johnny, Jack, Jenna, Taryn and Kylie; numerous brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim. Jess loved life and never met a stranger. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday in the funeral home with Rev. Tom Rutherford officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum with military honors.
