Jerry Lee Steiner

STEINER, Jerry Lee, 87, ascended to a better place on June 6, 2018, at his home in Coral Springs, Florida. Jerry passed peacefully under the devoted, constant and loving care of his longtime wife and companion, Danise. A creative entrepreneur at heart, Jerry was a born marketer. Jerry enjoyed a successful business career in Ohio and Florida until his final days - serving most recently as an executive and board member of Florida Metro Construction Company, led by his wife, Danise. The bulk of Jerry's prior business years were as a bank officer in Springfield and Columbus, starting with the First National Bank in Springfield in 1955. Jerry was gifted on his feet and facile with numbers; he once served 10 years as a banking instructor at what is now known as Clark State Community College. Born and raised in Springfield (DOB July 16, 1930), Jerry was united with Danise in the Buckeye State in 1991 and they relocated to the Sunshine State in 1992. There, Jerry flourished in the two kinds of weather he enjoyed most - warm and hot. Jerry was a proud husband, brother, and father of three children, 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. A man of many passions, he especially enjoyed chocolate milkshakes, men's fashion, music, politics, basking in the sun, a good laugh, nice cars and thoroughbred horse racing. Jerry was also always proud of his extraordinary record of service to his country. As a young adult, Jerry served honorably in separate tours with the US Navy, US Army and CIA. Jerry received a diploma from Springfield Catholic Central HS and his elementary education at St. Joseph's and Saint Teresa's - where he also was an altar boy and sang solos in the choir. Jerry later attended business classes at Bowling Green State University and banking classes at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, George and his beloved mother, Gladys. In addition to Danise, Jerry is survived by his younger "sis" Barbara and his children -- Curt, Cindy and Christie and children-in-law Jan, Jim and Jackie. Barbara, the children and many of the grandkids and great grandkids still live in or near Springfield and Columbus. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass and remarks beginning at 10:30 am on Tuesday held at St. Teresa Church, 1827 N. Limestone Street, located in Springfield, Ohio. Friends and family are also invited to a Celebration of Life at the Elks Lodge 51 located at 1536 Villa Road, Springfield beginning at 12:30 pm. Food and beverages will be provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org. Arrangements are being handled by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
