DUNN, Jane A., 69 of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017. Born in Chattanooga, TN on December 15, 1947, daughter of the late Joseph and Madalene (Holderby) Brumfield. A graduate of South High School and Ohio University, she held a Master of Arts Degree in Education and was a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar. She retired from the Mad River Local School District after 37 years of teaching language arts, math, and science to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. Serving as a board member, she was very active in the ALS Association Central and Southern Ohio Chapter after her retirement. She is preceded in death by her college sweetheart and beloved husband of 43 years, Dennis Dunn; and is survived by her daughters, Megan Roxanne (Carl) Brickner, Maura Jane (Joseph) Moore; grandchildren, Aubrey Jane and Madeleine Kathleen Brickner; Claire Kathryn and Colin Dennis Moore; brothers Joseph (Karla) Brumfield; Steven (Lynn) Brumfield; niece Lindsey (Damien) Dennis; nephews Joseph (Lindsay) Brumfield; Zachary (Jessica) Brumfield; and Matthew (Jessica) Brumfield; great-nephews Joey Brumfield, Elijah Brumfield, Tyse Dennis, Jackson Brumfield, and Nolan Brumfield; great-nieces Annaliese Brumfield, Bria Dennis, and Lydia Brumfield; cousins Teresa Carroll; Cindy Foster; Sharon Fuller; Elaine Doane; Terry McCurdy; and Kevin McCurdy. A dynamic, altruistic woman who touched many lives and lived her life to the fullest, she often remarked how blessed she was to have a rich abundance of family and dear friends. Jane was a dedicated, loving wife and mother and a doting, nurturing grandmother who dearly loved her grandchildren. She loved opera, the theater, and travel, Chicago and New York being her favorite destinations. Known for her love of life, humor, and delicious cooking, Jane was an avid reader and native plants gardener. In her ecumenical faith, she was a member for many years of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday, January 26, 2017 and one hour prior to the mass at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 E. National Road, Vandalia, OH 45377. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Friday, January 27, 2017 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Fr. John Tonkin officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City, immediately following the mass.
