WELCH, James W. 68 formerly of Springfield, passed away on October 25, 2016 in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a courageous battle with cancer. A 1966 graduate of Catholic Central High School, he proudly served in the Marine Corps, completing a tour of Vietnam. Jim retired from the US postal Service in Colorado Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dorothy (Ufheil) Welch. He is survived by Terese Welch, son John Welch and granddaughter Alexis, as well as brothers and sisters Margaret (Doug) Erhardt, Kathy(Bob) Phillips, Dick Welch, Elaine (Steve) Hackett, JoAnne(John) Neiswinger, David Welch and Amy (Tom) Conroy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim also leaves a lifelong friend Dan Tehan and a special Marine Corp brother Paul Nicodin, both of Colorado. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 pm on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. Jim was an animal lover and a passionate advocate for veterans.
