James W. "Jim" Allen, Sr.

Allen Sr., James W. "Jim," 75, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 in his home. Jim was born June 12, 1942 in Muncie, IN to Floyd C. and Iva Eileen (Rummel) Allen. He worked for the City of Springfield for 31 years, and was a member of the Union Club. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was well known by many for painting words of wisdom on his brown board on Route 40 across from the Masonic Home. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Beatrice (Williams); four children, Kimberly Lanum, Jamie (Bethany) Allen, Jason (Mindy) Allen and Jerrad (Terra) Allen; seven grandchildren, Megan, Jennifer, Joshua, Kelsey, Austin, Jadyn and Brennan; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Vickie Uggen; and a niece, Jennifer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brian. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Martin officiating, Burial will be in Vale Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Springfield Township Fire Department.
