James R. Harris

HARRIS, James R., 73, of Springfield passed away Saturday, April 01, 2017 in Springfield Manor. He was born May 7, 1943 in Richlands, VA the son of Everette and Mary Elizabeth (Deel) Harris. James worked as a meterman for Ohio Edison for over 30 years. He was a United States Air Force veteran having served during Vietnam, was a member of Springfield Bible Baptist Church, the Sportsman Club and was an avid, bowler, fisherman and softball player. Survivors include his wife Yvonna (Bruton); three daughters, Mary "Suzy" & Bryan Greene, Cable, Ohio, Sarah & Jose Garcia and Amanda Harris, both of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Hattie Harris, Springfield and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Winford Harris, Beecher Harris and Claude Allen Harris and an infant brother and sister. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Crossroads Hospice and the West Wing staff at Springfield Manor for all the kindness and care. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mark Rucker officiating. Visitation will be held one-hour prior. Burial will follow in Soldiers Mound at Ferncliff Cemetery.
