ALLEN, James N. "Jim", 84, of Springfield, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 in Springfield, OH. He was born on October 4, 1932 in New Carlisle, Ohio, the son of William Thomas Allen and Anna Mae (Constantine). Jim became a Master Plumber and owned and operated, with his wife, Jean, "Jim Allen Plumbing and Heating" for over 60 years. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran serving from 1953-1955. Jim married his wife Jean on May 3, 1958 and together they raised their four children. He was a well-known, active and respected member of the community, a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, the VFW Post 1031, the Indian Lake Moose and Eagles aerie 397. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Debbie Cochran; two brothers, Bob and Bill; two sisters, Doris and Rosie; Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jean (Shields); two daughters, Sharon Kay Allen, Springfield and Sandra Lee Worthington "Sandy", Beavercreek, OH; a son James "Troy" Allen, Springfield; grandchildren, James "Michael" Allen, Britney Allen (Bryce) Hensley, Travis Allen (Kayleigh) Cochran, Kayla Gail Cochran, James Zachary Allen "Zach", Cassandra Lee Worthington "Cassie"; four great grandchildren, Addie, Audrey, Casen, and Reese; three sisters in laws, June Lindsay, Ruth Shields and Sandy Houchins; and several nieces and nephews and numerous other family and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. in CONROY FUNERAL HOME with V.F.W. services at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the caregivers at Springfield Regional Medical Center and to the numerous family and friends for their care, love and support during this difficult time.
