WELLS, James Harrison, 89, of Springfield, passed away June 4, 2016 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born January 25, 1927 in Channel City (West Liberty), KY the son of Arthur and Lula (Weddington) Wells. James was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge #655 in Greenville, KY. He served in the Army in Japan as the war ended, then worked as a supervisor of transportation for Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 33 years retiring at the age of 49. In retirement he repaired, sold and donated bicycles in the Springfield area as a hobby. He was married to his beloved wife, Julia for 72 years, enjoying auctions, winters in Florida and their grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia, a stillborn daughter, Vicky Lynn, a son, Steve and 11 brothers and sisters. Survivors include two children and spouses, Nancy & Daniel Lester, Richmond, VA and Richard & Linda Wells, South Vienna, OH; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 4 siblings, Nell and Sharon, Florida, Rex and Aubrey, Kentucky and numerous nieces and nephews. Services are set for Friday, June 10, 2016 at 11:00 am in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
