MALONEY, James F. "Jim", Jr., 84, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born August 23, 1933 in Springfield the son of James F. and Lena (Spry) Maloney, Sr. Jim coached CYO baseball and girls basketball for a number of years, was an avid sports fan and loved to golf and play cards. He was a 1951 graduate of Catholic Central High School, later worked for Ohio Bell Telephone Co. for 42 years, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #624 and a United States Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen "Moe" (Shanley); seven children, Laura (Kevin) Dancy, Erin (Tom) Trempe, Brian Maloney (Stelian Serban), Katie Maloney, Tracy (Benjamin) Everingham, Elizabeth (Chad) Martin and Matthew Maloney; 18 grandchildren, Amy (Chris), Anne (Zack), Adam (Chelsea), Alex (Maria), Maggie (Cody), Kevin (Lexi), Claire, Frannie, Lillian, Nolan, Ashley, Sierra, Dale, Colin, Fintan, Dragomir, Seamus and Lena; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Mickey Maloney (Georgia George); two daughters-in-law, Eileen and Sharene and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Therese, one brother, Joseph and 2 sons, Michael and Patrick. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Catholic Central High School.
