Adkins, Helen Marie (Hornberger), 87, of Springfield, passed away July 21, 2014 in Springfield. She was born December 8, 1926 in Springfield, OH to Martin and Valeria (Firin) Hornberger. Helen spent her entire life in Springfield, OH. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harold Edward "Eddie" Adkins; three children, Mark (Jeannette) Adkins, Brian (Nilsa) Adkins, and Vanessa (Richard) Fletcher; grandchildren, Amy Adkins DeWine, Mike (Sheila) Earley, Jennifer (Jeff) Smith, Cristina Adkins and Ashley Fletcher; several great grandchildren; her sisters, Betty Hawke and Rose Littlejohn; a brother, Eugene Hornberger; nieces, Pam Riano and Sharon Botkins; dear friends, Ann Reedy, Dorothy Reardon, Marjorie Conley and Gaylene Farrell; and many sorority sisters in Delta Chi Sigma-Theta Chapter and card club friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one grandson, Brad. She loved her family, fashion and shopping. The family would like to thank the staff of Forest Glen Nursing Home and Gentiva Hospice for their loving care for Helen. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in St. Raphael Catholic Church, 225 E. High St. in Springfield with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
