Holoviak, Helen (Prima), peacefully passed away in her home in Enon, Ohio on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the age of 94. She was surrounded by her six children who lovingly cared for her in her final days. Helen began her life's journey in Saint Claire, PA and was one of five children. Helen touched all those she met with her warm blue eyes, smile and sincere concern for all God's creatures. Helen, a dedicated loving wife, mother, accomplished artist, and avid reader was guided daily by her unwavering faith. Helen's life was a testimony to both her country and her family. She married John Holoviak Jr. a WWII pilot in 1946 and as a military wife, they traveled and experienced the world with their six children throughout the 1940's and 1950's. After living in multiple countries and cities she and John settled in Enon, Ohio where John retired as a Lt. Colonel from the Air Force in 1961 and then began a second career in financial services. Like most mothers, her face beamed every time she discussed her children. The pride came from what she described as her role as a parent by sending her children off to lead lives of their own to be 'productive members of society,' as she once described it. She did this through pats on the back, encouraging words, and, sometimes, a kick in the pants when needed. Her children serve as a testimony to her compassion, firmness, faithfulness, and the unhesitating ability to do the right thing when those around her hesitated to do so. She was a member of a number of Ohio Art organizations, and produced a prolific number of original creative works in all art mediums. Many of her works now hang, proudly, in the homes of her children and admirers as fond remembrances of how she managed to paint and create while raising six children. Her years on earth were spent nurturing her six children and husband. Both she and her husband instilled a deep sense of faith in their entire family, and this faith remains a strong part of all of those in her family who will gather to say and pray their final farewells. All who knew her will remember her consistent smile, her loving blue eyes, and her resilience. Even in declining health, she always displayed a humbleness and grace that spread through every situation in her life and to everyone who knew her. She is survived by her children Rosemary Fisher, Nick Holoviak, John Holoviak, Sam Holoviak, Ann Rhees and Milley Camp. Included in her immediate family are five grandchildren, one great- grandchild, and two sisters, Olga Bender and Mary Horoschak. Helen was a lifelong active member of the Springfield Greek Orthodox Church. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, August 19 in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. In Helen's honor, a celebration of her life will be held at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 1127 E. High Street, Springfield, Ohio on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 10:30am.
