H. Roberta "Birdie" Hamaker

Hamaker, H. Roberta "Birdie", 94, of Springfield, left this life August 11, 2014 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born January 23, 1920 in Springfield, OH to Charles and Ella (McManus) Martin. Birdie was formerly employed at Crowell-Collier Publishing Co. and later Borden's Dairy, for a number of years. Birdie faced many challenges in her life but remained a caring and fun loving person. Recently she was living an active and independent life at Eaglewood Village where she will be missed by many friends. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, John (Angela) Martin, Springfield; nieces and nephews, Mary Kay Burk, Dianne Lynch, Robert Burns, Esther Boehm, Charles Lizius, James Lizius, Cynthia Martin Shishoff, Deborah Martin, Douglas Martin, Julie Belcher, Lori Martin Beauchamp and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hamaker; siblings, Robert Martin, Janet Burns, and Marian Lizius; nephew, Arthur Burns; and niece, Mary Ellen Lizius. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior, in the church. Arrangements are being handled by the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
