SCHIFFER, Gary D., 61, of Springfield, passed away unexpectedly in his home on March 19, 2015. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 26, 1953 the son of Eugene and Lena (Wilensky) Schiffer. Gary had worked as a baker and IT Specialist for a number of years throughout the country. He most recently was hired as an administrative assistant at Clark-Shawnee High School. He was a World War II enthusiast and a train collector. Survivors include his wife, Faith (Smith); one son, Barry Schiffer, Columbus; one sister, Elysa & Howard Kritz, Little Neck, NY; sister-in-law, Pamela (Dan) Kastrup and their children; brother-in-law, Michael (Rainey) Skimmerhorn and their children; niece, Hannah; nephews, Austin and Wyatt; brother and sister-in-law, Curt & Stacey Smith; mother-in-law, Sheila Skimmerhorn; his first wife, Susan Schiffer; many cousins and his four legged babies who watched over him when he passed. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, William Skimmerhorn and brother-in-law William Skimmerhorn, Jr. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 pm on Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm in the church with Pastor Roger Herrig officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Clark County Humane Society or the animal charity of your choice. The family is being served by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
