HENRY, Frederick O., 94, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of Yellow Springs, Ohio, died on December 13th in the Dayton VA Hospice Palliative Care Unit. He was born in Clark County, July 1, 1920, Springfield, Ohio. He was the youngest son of Fred Pearl and Maggie Estella (Yowler) Henry. Fredrick was past Chairman of the Springfield and Clark County March of Dimes, and a graduate of the Dayton School of Technology in television and media repair, operating his own service and sales business. Frederick's concern for his community manifested itself in his volunteer work with the Husted Fire and Paramedic Unit. For over forty years, he was employed by Bauer Brothers and D & H Manufacturing serving them in various capacities. During his retirement, he devoted himself to woodworking. He was a "master craftsman" accepting woodworking commissions specializing in architectural and furniture restorations. Fred and his wife, Mary I., were charter members in the establishment of the non-denominational church pastored by Rev. Ray and Mary Dunlap, known as "The Little Church Beside the Road" presently operated by Victory Baptist Church. As an act of his Christian faith, under the leadership of Rev. Dunlap, Fred initiated a bus ministry for children and adults. After Rev. Dunlap's retirement, Fred continued his bus ministry for The Clifton Avenue Church of God in Springfield, Ohio where his wife Mary I. served in as a teacher in the primary department. As his act of devotion to his country, he served in the US Army during WW ll, in the Pacific Theatre as a machinist with the 3014th Engineer Maintenance Company. He is survived by his wife, of 76 years, Mary Imogene (Rutherford) Henry, two sons: Dr. Michael Earl Henry (Drusilla) of Springfield, Ohio and Fred Eugene Henry (Mary Beth) of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, three grandsons, Matthew Michael of Springfield, David Andrew (Kelli) of Pendelton, Indiana, and Isaac Robert, of South Portland, Maine; two great-granddaughters, Baylee Marie Henry of Dublin, Ohio and Dora Grace Henry of Columbus, Ohio; two-step granddaughters, Elizabeth Rizen of Mechanicsburg, Ohio and Emmaline Burnett of Urbana, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Pearl and Maggie Estella and his six siblings: Pauline M. Tossey (sister), Margaret (infant sister), Carlton (brother), Gerald (brother), Paul (brother), and Karl (infant brother). Visitation will occur in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME, 1660 E. High Street, Springfield, Ohio from 10-11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, followed by a funeral service officiated by Chaplain Kenneth Boyd of Dayton VA Hospice. Interment will immediately follow at the Donnelsville Cemetery, Donnelsville, Ohio.
