LANUM, Fred L., Sr., 88, of Springfield passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 in Eaglewood Village. He was born June 9, 1927 in Springfield the son of Frederick and Lucille (Keyes) Lanum. Fred worked as a paint mixer for International Harvester for a number of years, also serving as a union steward for 29 years, retiring in 1988, was a US Navy veteran serving from 1945 to 1946 and attended High Street Church of the Nazarene. He was also an avid bowler and fisherman. Anyone who knew him experienced his love and compassion and will be missed by all. Survivors include four children and spouses, Fred & Lori Lanum, Jr., Deborah & Gene Husted, both of Springfield, Anita & Butch Collins, Urbana and Denise & Jeff Lough, Springfield; 8 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Edna in 1996; two sisters, Christine "Tootsie" Skaggs and Dorothy Slone; and two infant brothers, Ralph Lanum and Edward Lanum. Friends may call from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home with Rev. Bill Blain officiating. Chapel service will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens on Friday at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
