Fred B. "Brownie" Markley

Markley, Fred B. "Brownie", 88, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 in his home. Brownie was born January 28, 1927 in Springfield, OH to Jacob and Mary Markley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and later worked as a Locomotive Engineer for New York Central Rail Road for 40 years. He was a member of St. Bernard Church, and a graduate of Catholic Central High School and Purdue University. Survivors include two children, Jack (Gaye) Parish of Okeechobee, FL and Jeannette (Chuck) Penrose of South Charleston, OH; seven grandchildren, Kim Sedja, Stephanie Parish, David Parish, Shauna Williams, Jennifer Clemons, Alichia Knight and Miqhaela McMullen; and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Hamilton) in 1994. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel at St. Bernard Cemetery with Pastor Charles Wertz officiating. Memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard Church. Arrangements by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
