Floyd E. "Ed" McCombs

McCOMBS, Floyd E. "Ed", 77, of Springfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 12, 2013 in his residence. He was born October 24, 1936 in Springfield the son of Harvey E. and Margaret Alice (Donovan) McCombs. He worked for Columbia Gas of Ohio for 31 years and was the owner and operator of Ed's Backhoe Service. Ed was a member of First Christian Church, St. Andrew's Lodge and was a United States Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nancy (Fisher) McCombs; six children and spouses, Cindy McCombs, North Hampton, Steven & Tracy McCombs, Iowa, James & Christine McCombs, Springfield, Kristy & Gregg Lambert, Texas, Randy & Holly McCombs, Springfield and Chad & Monica McCombs, Columbus; seven grandchildren, Kyleigh, Patrick, Brenna, Jessica, Lane, Duke and Ella McCombs; one great grandson, Brady; step-brother, George & Ann Flora; two step-sisters, Marlene & Tom Jones and Mary Lee & Richard Burns; sisters-in-law, Sondra Frank and Kathleen Whaley and a brother-in-law, John Fisher. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey and mother and step-father, Alice and Jake Flora. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Dave Augustus officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Community-Mercy Hospice or the American Heart Association.
