Walters, Evelyn, 83, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 in The Ohio State University Medical Center. She was born September 22, 1932 in Springfield, OH, the daughter of Mark and Louise (Keifer) Bush. Evelyn graduated from Enon High School in 1950 and attended Springfield Business College, Ohio State University, Purdue University and Clark State University. Evelyn retired in 2000 from the Clark County Commission Office and had been employed previously by the Yellow Springs Clinic, Dr. John Burnett of Springfield, Ohio State University, Clark County Fair Office and Macy's. She was an active supporter of the Extension Service in Clark County, Columbus and Washington D.C. She co-authored a leadership/assertive program for Homemakers sanctioned by Ohio State University and she presented this program throughout Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky. In 1983 the Clark County Commissioners presented Evelyn, as President of the Ohio Extension Homemakers Council, a Proclamation proclaiming May 2 - May 8, 1983 as "Homemakers Week" in Clark County. She was a member of the Ohio State Alumni Association, Public Employee Retirees, Elderly United, AARP, Community Hospital Auxiliary, Wittenberg University Guild, Ohio National Road Association, DAR Lagonda Chapter, Daughters of 1812, past President of the Clark County Extension Homemakers Organization, past President of the Ohio Extension Homemakers and past member of the YWCA Board. She was a member of the Clark County and the Ohio Extension Advisory Boards and represented them in Columbus and Washington D.C. She served on the Springfield City Schools Chapter I Parents Council and represented the Council in Washington D.C. She was also a member of the D&K Cake Decorating and Craft Club. She was a life-long member of the High Street United Methodist Church and served as Sunday School Teacher and many offices including Chairman of the Board. She is survived by her husband George, whom she married in 1964; three children, Mark (Sheila) VanPelt, Michelle (David) Thornton and Charles Walters; and several cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Allen officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
