BRANDEWIE, Eugene William "Gene", 67, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at his home on January 11, 2017. He was born November 29, 1949 in Piqua, Ohio the son of Clarence and Dorothy (Schwartz) Brandewie. He was raised on the family farm in Fort Loramie, OH. Gene married the love of his life, Sharon on June 27, 1970. They would raise four children together, Shaun Brandewie, Jennifer & Mark Brown, Aaron Brandewie and Kevin Brandewie & Kelly Kennington. Gene's life was brighter with the birth of each of his grandchildren. He loved them more than anything. Forever to cherish his love he leaves, Chloe, Claire, Sophia, Carter and Sadie Brown, Olivia and Alex. Gene touched the lives of many while serving our country. He retired from the Air National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel and Base Commander at the Springfield Air Base. He is survived by his wife Sharon (Boerger), his children and grandchildren; six siblings, Linda Brandewie, Mike & Ursula Brandewie, Tom & Peg Brandewie, Ann (Ken Manister) Brandewie, Doug & Heidi Brandewie and Tony & Missi Brandewie; his mother-in-law, Irene Boerger, four sisters and brother-in-law and fellow "Out-Laws", Diane & Tom Meyer, Julie & Don Gaier, Nancy & Dave Havener and Frank & Kathy Boerger and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Frank Boerger. Friends may call from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday in St. Raphael Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Amyloidosis Foundation, The Ohio State University Ross Heart Hospital or the charity of your choice.
