Hopkins, Ernest G. "Gail," 92, of Springfield, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017, at Forest Glen Health Campus. Ernie was born June 3, 1924, in Pleasant Township, OH to Orville and Jennie (Miller) Hopkins. He was a member of the Army Air Corps, where he served in WWII. He retired as a Meter Serviceman for Ohio Edison after 28 years. He then went on to teach Construction Electricity at Springfield Clark CTC for 14 years. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two children, Mark (Mary) Hopkins and Susan (Mike) Hoover; four grandchildren, Megan, Molly, Sarah and Matthew (Elice); and two great grandchildren, Dexter and Oliver Hoover; sister-in-law, Karen McCullough; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Rev. George Copus officiating. Visitation will be held one and a half hours prior in the funeral home, beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
