Emma Jo Suttles

Suttles, Emma Jo, 82, of Springfield, passed away unexpectedly on November 4, 2016. She was born in Whitwell, Tennessee on November 30, 1933 the daughter of Cecil and Mary Emma (Davis) McEntyre. She retired from Wittenberg University after more than 47 years of working in food service there. She was a 52 year member of Northside Baptist Church, a recent inductee into the Springfield/Clark County Women's Bowling Hall of Fame, a member of the Red Hat Society and the Eastern Star. She loved to read, work puzzles, and watching sports. She loved the Cincinnati Reds, Kentucky Wildcats and Wittenberg Tigers. Survivors include her three children, Clarence L. (Lisa) Suttles of South Vienna, Thelma (Tom) Markley of League City, Texas and Susan (Jeff) Potter of Springfield; brother and sister-in-law, Ray (Mary Lou) McEntyre of Frankfort, Kentucky; sister, Sonja Thornton of Springfield; six grandchildren, Chad Potter, Jeremy (Athena) Potter, Travis Potter, Rachel Markley, Chelsea (Nick) Hampton and Whitney (Aaron) Roberts; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Calvin Suttles and her brother, Jim McIntyre. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Kirk Ross officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made to Cure Spinal Muscular Atrophy, 925 Busse Road, Elk Grove Village, Illinois 60007.
