Elmer H. Powell, Jr.

POWELL, Elmer H., Jr., 69, of Springfield, passed away January 10, 2017 in his home. He was born May 1, 1947 in Springfield the son of Elmer H. and Nancy Powell, Sr. Elmer was a supervisor for Springview Developmental Center and Montgomery County Developmental Center where he loved taking care of special needs children. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, was an avid guitar player and enjoyed walking his dogs. Elmer was a veteran having served in the US Army. Survivors include his wife, Jeann (Hempstead); three stepchildren, James & Darcy Rodman, Michelle & Brad Griffith and Brandon Rodman; three grandchildren, Xavier, Kendal and Koren; three brothers, William & Judy Powell, Fr. Donald Powell and Jay Powell; one sister, Norma Murray and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Tracey Rodman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Dan Powell officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Myers Cemetery.
