Klenke, Edward J., 95, died December 3, 2014 in Perrysburg, Ohio. He was born March 17, 1919 the son of Christopher and Bertha (Voeckell) Klenke. He was a member of St. Teresa Church. Edward was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served in the U.S. Navy as Lt. (J.G.) aboard the USS Otus operating with the 7th fleet in the South Pacific. He was recalled to active duty with the I.S. Air Force as a Captain during the Korean War. He retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Mr. Klenke was employed by Aeronautical Systems Division, WPAFB, as a Chief Flight Systems Engineer, directing the development of several major advanced propulsion systems. He was awarded the Air Force Meritorious Civilians Service Award in 1980. He retired in 1981, completing over 40 years of civilian and military service. He was a Volunteer Gallery Docent at the Clark County Heritage Center. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Ann (Tehan) Klenke; four children and spouses, Catherine A. (Ralph) Kubacki, Toledo, OH, Edward J. (Mary) Klenke, Jr., Bay Village, OH, James W. Klenke, St. Louis, MO, and Joseph C. (Renee) Klenke, Houston, TX; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Rosemary Klenke. He was preceded in death by a brother, William C. Klenke; and a sister, Rita M. Klenke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in St. Teresa Church, with visitation beginning one hour prior in the church. Burial to follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
