Edward H. Hoecker, Jr.

HOECKER, Edward H. Jr., 86, of Springfield, departed this life on December 10, 2017 in Elmcroft of Fairborn. He was born March 19, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Edward and Linda (Woehrman) Hoecker, Sr. Ed worked as an electrical engineer at Ohio Edison for 39 years retiring in 1992. He received his B.A. in Electrical Engineering from Case Institute Technology and was a registered professional engineer with the State of Ohio. He was a member of Risen Christ Lutheran Church and was a United States Army veteran having served from 1954 to 1956. He married his wife, Shirley, in 1956 in Calvary Lutheran Church in Cleveland and lived in Hinckley before moving to Springfield. His hobbies include traveling, eating out and attending many of his children and grandchildren's sporting events in Springfield and Columbus. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Shirley Jean (Baese); four children and spouse, Karen Hoecker, Columbus, Dr. Kenneth Hoecker, Columbus, Kirk & Teresa Hoecker, Springfield and Kay Hoecker (Dennis Nagy), Columbus; five grandchildren, Charles and Ellie Hoecker, Edward and Eric Hoecker and Daniel Hoecker, and one brother, Rev. David Hoecker, Jupiter FL. He was preceded in death by and infant daughter. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME and one hour prior to the service at church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday in Risen Christ Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Risen Christ Lutheran Church, the American Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Dayton.
