STEVENSON, Douglas Gene, 58, of Springfield, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic after a month long battle of complications from H1N1. He was born in Springfield on October 17, 1955 to Harold and Phyllis (Baker) Stevenson. Doug was an Eagle Scout in Troop #1 and was a 1973 graduate of Shawnee High School. He was a local contractor for neighborhoods such as Kingsgate and Aberfelda along with numerous other custom homes throughout Clark County. Doug was the owner of Stevenson Utilities Construction LLC for over 25 years working with his son, Brian, who will continue the family business. Prior to that, he worked at Stevenson Heating and Air Conditioning and Roger's Enterprises for a number of years. Doug was a member of the Clark County Builders Assoc., the Clark County Chamber of Commerce, Dayton Building Assoc. and the Associated Builders and Contractors. He was a loving husband, nurturing dad and a man of integrity, giving and helping to those in need. Doug is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 39 years, Joy (Higbee), Springfield; one daughter, Dr. Heidi Stevenson, Columbus; one son Brian Stevenson, Springfield; his parents, Harold and Phyllis Stevenson, Springfield; mother-in-law, Doris Higbee, Springfield and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Russell Higbee, Sr. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday in Lawrenceville Church of God with Pastor Alan Cain officiating. Burial will follow in Vale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Rockway Fire Dept. c/o Springfield Township and the American Red Cross.
