Vannatta, Doris M. "Dorie" (Law), a life-long resident of Springfield and long time member of Saint Bernard's Parish, passed peacefully Sunday the 3rd of May, 2015 at Villa Springfield after a brief illness. She was born December 5, 1930 in Harmony, OH to Ralph "Rooster" and Iva (Faulder) Burbeck. Doris was one of six children. She met and married the love of her life, David Vannatta in 1967 and spent many wonderful years together before his passing in 2002. Doris received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from the first graduating class of Mercy Hospital in 1955. She worked as an office nurse for Dr. Edwin Roberts for many years. Doris was a poetess at heart and won several awards for her work. She was dearly loved by friends and family. She is survived by sons Michael Law and David Vannatta; daughter, Beverly (John) Gebhardt; grandchildren, Joey (Courtney) Law, Kristy Law, John Gebhardt, Melissa (Blake) Cetnar and Amanda (David) Keeton; a sister, Mildred "Middy" Ray; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by twin brothers Glenn and Gale Burbeck and sisters, Louise Eshelman and Virginia "Ginny" Casteel. Conroy Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Deacon Norm Horstman officiating. Interment will be in the Plattsburg Cemetery.
