Doris V. Davis

Davis, Doris V., 84, of Springfield, passed away on April 7, 2016 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. Doris was born on January 19, 1932 in Ashland, KY, the daughter of Harry T. Payne and Sadie (VanHoose) Elliott. She had been employed as a Secretary for Community Hospital for 20 years before retiring in 1986 and was a member of Hillside Church of God. Doris met Bill, the love of her life, at Hodges Roller Rink. They then married in 1948. Survivors include three children, Terri Fraley of Springfield, Bruce Davis of DeSota, TX and Gary (Kathleen) Davis of Rushsylvania, OH; brother, Dwight (Annie) Elliott; four grandchildren, Kari (Brett) Griffith, Kim (Scott) Whitlock, Chanci (Eric) Zucker and Kaci Davis; ten great-grandchildren, Zach, Meg, Logan, Ethan, Mason, Madison, Kamryn, Chance, Sebastian and Jennifer; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bill in 2012 and her brother, Billy Gene. The family would like to thank the staff at Forest Glen for their excellent care and love. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Monday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, starting at 11:00am in the funeral home. Interment will be held in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
