SHERIDAN, Doris M., 87, of Springfield, died April 27, 2016 in her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born April 22, 1929 in Columbus, OH to Edward E. and Mary (Lytle) Smith. Doris was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, worked at the Thermometer Corp. of America for a number of years. She received the College of Regents Degree from the Women of the Moose, a member of the Union Club, Women's Aux. of the American Legion, and 50 year member of the Eagles. She was devoted to St. Jude, her patron Saint. Doris loved Elvis, bingo, playing point rum, collecting dolls, and enjoyed sitting on her front porch. Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Thomas J. Sheridan; four beautiful daughters, Cherie (Rod) Riggle, Debbie Patten, Janie (Bill) Shingler, and Susie (Roger) Lucas; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gloria McNelly, Mary Hopkins, Jody & Barry Farries, and Juanita Holt Trego. Preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Royalty and Carol Headley Cook and a brother, Richard Smith. Friends may call in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Moose service will be held at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Church. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society or the National Shrine of St. Jude, c/o 205 W. Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60606.
