Donald R. Whipp

Whipp, Donald Richard “Don”, 78, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. Don was born on April 21, 1946 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Russell Richard and Rose Marie (Hunter) Whipp. He worked as an assembler for Navistar for 30 years, retiring in 2002. He was also a member of First Christian Church and UAW Local 402. In his spare time, Don enjoyed camping, fishing and working outside. Survivors include one daughter, Amanda (Todd) Hines; two granddaughters, Torie (Justin) Preston and Breanna (Travis Lynch) Hines; three great grandchildren, Grace Zimmers, Zoe Preston and Finn Preston; special brother-in-law, Sherman Sudduth; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Doanld was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Patricia, in 2021; and eight siblings. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Oct. 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Jeffersonville, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to The James Cancer Center.
