Perks, Donald G. Sr., 74, of Springfield, passed away on June 8, 2016. Donald was born January 3, 1942 in Belington, West Virginia, the son of Grant S. Sr. and Agnes (Rinehart) Perks. He had been employed as a Skilled Tradesman for Navistar for 42 years before retiring in 2004. He was a member of Clark Lodge #101 F&AM and Eastern Star Chapter 258. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed NASCAR and football, but the most important thing to him was his family and his West Virginia roots. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Onie M. (Cantrell); four children, Donald "Gene" (Carolyn) Perks, Jr. of Springfield, Larry D. (Vicki) Perks of Mechanicsburg, David A. (Stacy) Perks of Springfield and Cindy (Marshall) Long of Upper Arlington; 11 grandchildren, Adam (Jessica), Rachel (Greg), Ryan, Tim, Dan, Mack, Madison, Emma, Halle, Hayden and Cordelia, five siblings, Diane (Ray) O'Neal of Columbus, Vickey Keeling of Springfield, Jim (Sharon) Perks of South Vienna, Grant S. (Gail) Perks, Jr. of Buckeye Lake and Rod (Jeri) Perks of Enon; his best friend, Ron Williams and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Steve Keeling. Friends may call at the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 2pm-4pm on Sunday with Masonic Services at 4:00 p.m. and Eastern Star Services to follow. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday in the funeral home with Rev. Ken Woode officiating. Burial will be held in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
