Rigney, Sr., Donald Evans, 88, of Springfield, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 7, 1930 the son of Willis and Ora (Ward) Rigney. He retired from Kelsey Hayes/SPECO Division after many years of service. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Elks, where he enjoyed golf. He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Dorothea "Doe" (Batchik), whom he married in Detroit, Michigan on October 13, 1951. He is also survived by his six children, Don, Jr. (DeeDee) Rigney, Karen Fritts (Bob LaLumiere), Laurie (Charlie) Nevius, Ron (Miguelina) Rigney, Diane (Tobin) Bost and Leslie (Donnie) Craig; 10 grandchildren, Jason Neville, Don III (Katie) Rigney, Lisa Rigney, Joe Rodriguez-Fritts (Adrian), Barrie (Blane) Savage, Ciera Craig, Garrett Nevius, Kierstin (Justin) Holbrook, Guillermo (Lucero) Bailes and Pamela (Melvin) Landadevae; eight great grandchildren, Taylor and Kennedy Neville, Griffin and Grace Rigney, Hudson and Conrad Savage, Oaklyn Holbrook and Avril Bailes; sister, Jean Schroeder and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Les and Hal Rigney; sister, Olene Haehn and two grandsons, Sean and Shane O'Brien. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME with an Elks service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in St. Teresa Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Catholic Central School.
