Dennis "Grasshopper" Powers

POWERS, Dennis "Grasshopper", 67, of Springfield, unexpectedly passed away in his home on February 15, 2014. He was born in Springfield June 23, 1946 the son of Kenneth E. and Dorothy (Morgan) Powers. He graduated from Greenon High School and was a member of the first, four-year, graduating class of Wright State University ('68) with an accounting degree. Dennis was proud to have served as Navy Corpman in Vietnam June '70 through April '71. He was a member of the Military Order of the Cootie, VFW 1031 and worked 32 years at International Harvester/Navistar. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Martha Powers. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Darlene (Pearson) Powers; five daughters, Denise Powers, Christy Powers, Jillian (Zachary) Hazlett, Robyn Powers and Grace Powers; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother, Gary (Linda) Powers and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, February 28, 7 pm at UAW Local 402, 3671 Urbana Rd., Springfield, Ohio 45502. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family is being served by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
