David Francis Smith

SMITH, David Francis, 72, died on June 8, 2018 after a long illness. David was born May 15, 1946, to Virginia Hall Smith, 97, and the late Walter Francis Smith of Bethel, Ohio. He had a varied and interesting professional life, ranging from New York City Taxi driver to published poet. He served as Mayor of Bethel, and Auditor of Clermont County, Ohio, before beginning a long career with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services with postings in southwest Ohio and Columbus. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brothers, Roger (Cincinnati, OH), Steven (Cincinnati) and Thomas (Bethel), a niece (Kelly) and three nephews (Scott, Todd and Matt), and 31 great- and great-great- nieces and nephews. He had been a resident of the Masonic Home, in Springfield, OH, since early 2017. At David's request, there will be no funeral.
