Wise, Danny C., 66, of Springfield, passed away July 6, 2014 in Columbus, OH. Danny was born February 9, 1948 in Springfield the son of Kenneth and Betty (Oesterle) Wise. He retired April 2000 as the Assistant Chief of the Springfield Fire Division after 27 years of service. He received two letters of commendation, first, from Fire Chief Frank Trempe for his actions in performing the rescue of a trapped victim in 1980, and second, from City Manager Tim Ayers for his actions in assisting the victim of cardiac arrest while attending a Wittenberg basketball game in 1988. Danny also retired from Springview Developmental Center as the Safety Officer. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Union Club, Machinist Club, Buckeye Club and Elks Lodge #51. Survivors in addition to his father, Kenneth, include his wife of 37 years, Cheryl A. (Downey) Wise, Springfield; two children, Erik (Tara) Wise, Springfield and Megan Wise, New Albany; three grandchildren, Shaun, Carson and Aubrey; three sisters and spouses, Sandra (John) Freshour, Patti (Michael) McClelland, Springfield, and Linda (Darrel) Lytle, Warner Robbins, GA; mother-in-law, Rosie Downey; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Friends may call in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 4-7 p.m. Thursday with a Firefighter Turnout Service at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. John Lutheran Church with an additional hour of visitation one hour prior in the church. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Springfield Professional Firefighters for Safety Education, 19 S. Fountain Ave, Springfield, OH 45502, or St. John Lutheran Church Donor Advised Fund. Following the funeral service, a gathering will be held at the Springfield Professional Firefighters Clubhouse on Bird Road.
