Doyle, Daniel Eugene, 94, passed away in his sleep on Sunday, September 27 at his residence. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Anna (Hargan) Doyle; siblings Louise, Harry Junior, Ben, and Roseann, and his niece, Ellen Miller. He is survived by his cousin Larry (Judy) Doyle; nephews Jack (Donna) Miller, Tom (Chris) McGree, Kevin (Jean) McGree; nieces Bridget (Chris) Carson and Colleen (Ric) Elliott, and many great-nephews and great-nieces. Gene was a lifelong resident of Springfield and enjoyed spending winters in Mount Dora, Florida. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Gene was a collector, and an avid card player. He had a fascination with hummingbirds and spent many hours happily observing them in the feeders hung in his backyard. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Larry and Judy Doyle for watching over Gene, especially in recent months as his health declined. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Boston Children's Hospital, in memory of Gene Doyle.
