Dan G. Switzer

Switzer, Dan G., 67, died suddenly this Sunday. He was born on February 28, 1947 in Springfield, OH to Dan Pendleton and Audrey Mae Parsell Switzer. He and his wife owned the Putt-Putt and Dairy Queen on Bechtle Ave. Dan was a 1965 graduate of Springfield North High School and had attended both Wittenberg and Kent State Universities. He loved sports- played football, baseball, softball, golf and was an avid bowler who achieved the ultimate 300 game. In college he discovered soccer, later coaching youth and high school, and co-founding the Springfield Select Soccer Club. He also organized and ran the Great Lakes Putting Tour, and chaperoned and coached many Jr. Putters Assoc. teams at national competitions. Dan currently served on the Elks Golf Committee, and ran two evening golf leagues in addition to being a full-time business owner. Dan was a longtime active member and past president of the Springfield Jaycees, had been awarded a lifetime membership in the Jaycee International Senate, had served on the Board of Directors of Putt-Putt Golf Courses of America, and gave many volunteer hours, most recently to the Dayton Children's Medical Center. He was a loyal friend to many, a proud caring father, had a special bond with young people, particularly 4-year old granddaughter Lucy who touched her heart the other day and said "he will always be with me". He is survived by wife Jane Sayers Switzer, whom he married in 1968, sons Dan (Jenn) and Jeff, granddaughter Lucy, sisters Dana (Tom) Wilson and Danita (Bernie) Myers, mother-in-law Margaret Sayers, brother-in-law Jack Sayers, and special nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor James Christian officiating.
