Courtland Eyler

COURTLAND EYLER, 40, of Springfield, passed away much too soon on Thursday, March 30, in his home. Courtland was born on March 18, 1977, in Kettering, the son of Ronald Eyler and Helen (Pope) Strausbaugh. He was a hard-working, good-hearted soul that would help anyone in need. Courtland enjoyed spending time with family...especially his son Riley. He also spent many happy hours singing, cooking out and sharing good times with friends and family. Courtland is survived by his grandmother Mary (Kitts) Pope of Hilliard, mother Helen (Pope) Strausbaugh of Hilliard, much loved son, Riley Eyler, the mother of his child, Jessica Penwell and her two children, Brenna and Brayden of Springfield, his sisters Kimberly (Joe) Van Gundy of Hilliard, and Julia (Ben) Nead of Portland, OR; six nieces and nephews, Maria, Stasia, Enzo, Soren, Eitri, Arya; eleven aunts and uncles, Mary and Fred Khavari, Bob Keener, Shirley and Mike Wilson, Sue and Dan McDavid, Pat and Hank Jones, and Debi Adams (Curtis Williams); several cousins and many other dear friends and neighbors. He will be missed dearly by so many of us. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Eyler; step mother, Brenda Eyler; maternal aunt Sandee Keener; and maternal grandfather, Houston Pope. A gathering of family and friends for Courtland will be held on Friday, April 7, from 4 p.m. To 6 p.m. at the Conroy Funeral Home, 1660 E High St, Springfield, OH 45505. A memorial service will immediately follow with Father (Stretch) Lawrence Mierenfeld officiating.
