ALLEN, Constance "Connie" Allegra, 72, of Springfield, passed away January 5, 2018 in The James Cancer Center. She was born September 22, 1945 in Springfield the daughter of the late Robert A. and Betty A. (Ramby) Thompson. Connie was employed by Ohio Bell and AT&T for 27 years. After retirement, she worked at the Clark County Board of Elections, and volunteered at the Springfield Regional Cancer Center, She was a member of First Christian Church where, as a true patriot, she taught a Constitution class and did missionary work in Honduras, Haiti, and across the United States for over 25 years. Survivors include four children and spouses, John Allen, Atlanta, GA, Cynthia & Dr. David Sutton, Jacksonville, FL, Matthew & Alisa Ross, Perrysburg, OH and estranged son, Todd Allen, Missouri; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings, Monica (Thompson) & Joe Wolbert, Douglas & Joan Thompson, Stephen & Gail Thompson, Gregory Thompson and Christopher & Linda Thompson, devoted friend of 40 years, Sandy Fenton, cherished friend, Sharon Hanlin and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Allen, in 2016. The family would like to express their appreciation to Drs. Ravi Khanna and Zaw Bo at the Springfield Regional Cancer Center, Dr. Ashley Rosko at the James Cancer Center, Dr. Pius Kurian, and all their staff. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, at First Christian Church, with Pastor Joel Augustus officiating. Family will receive friends four hours prior beginning at 1:00 PM in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Lifeline Christian Ministries. Arrangements are being handled by Conroy Funeral Home.
