Colonel Pasquale A. Gicale, USAF (Ret.)

Gicale, Colonel Pasquale A., USAF (Ret), 95, passed away on February 10, 2018 in Springfield, Ohio. He was born September 12, 1922, in Olean, New York to Nicola and Carolina (Dinoia) Gicale. He graduated from Olean High School in 1940. He was the commander of the 251st Combat Communications Group at the Springfield Municipal Airport from May 27, 1968 to September 10, 1982. He is a World War II Veteran and a recipient of numerous metals and commendations. In 1988 Col. Gicale graduated from Pacific Western University with a Master's Degree in Management. He also completed graduate level management training at Air Tactical Officer School, Air Command and Staff College and Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He married the former Barbara Geiger on September 1, 1945, in Great Falls, Montana. They had 5 children, Tim (Mary), Mark (Carol), Becky (Ben), Christina (Ric) and Greg. He is survived by 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 6 nieces and nephews, and numerous grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, his parents, 1 sister, 2 brothers, 1 grandson and 1 nephew. He was a long-time member of St. Teresa Parish. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 -7 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Teresa Church. Burial will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, OH.
