BLACK, Clara Evelyn, 93, of Springfield, Ohio peacefully went to be with The Lord at 11:10 PM late Friday, January 11, 2013 in Mechanicsburg, Ohio. She was born November 22, 1919 in Wellston, Ohio, the daughter of David and Delma (Churtz) Thompson. "Kebbie", as she was affectionately known, was an avid seamstress and gardener. She always made certain the birds in her backyard were well fed and watered. She loved the aroma of her lilacs and honeysuckle growing there, and filled the house with bouquets. Every year she made doll clothes for Toys for Tots so the children would be able to clothe the little ones. When she and her husband Frank took the dance floor at the Liedertafel, everyone in attendance stopped to watch them dance the jitter-bug. We know she and he are now dancing together in heaven. She is survived by her baby sister Virginia Allender of Denver Colorado, son Terry (Carolyn) Black of Springfield, daughter Connie (George) Ganss of Harwich, Massachusetts, step-daughter Patricia Wagner of Enon, Ohio and step-son James (Joyce) Black of South Charleston, Ohio, seven grandchildren: Amanda C. (Fiance Nick Moore) Harris, Devin M. (Leanna) Black, Richard (Becky) Wagner, William Wagner, Robert Wagner, James M. Black and Susan Black, and eight great-grandchildren: Kayden Harris, Samuel Moore, Emma, Isabella, Bristol Black and Lilliann Hembree, Laura Wagner and Ryan Wagner, a number of nieces and nephews and wonderful friends and caregivers Shirley and Don Sconfienza, Linda and John Conkel, Barbara Krupp, Debbie Long, Theadosa "Teddy" Thompson, and Sherry Gist. The family also wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Adegbile of Visiting Physicians and nurse Brenda Abbott of Grace Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Francis "Blackie" Black, brothers Verle Thompson and Norman of Springfield, Ohio, Paul Thompson of California and sister Carmen Baldwin of Tremont City, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Thursday, January 17th at Conroy Funeral Home in Springfield. Funeral services will be held the next day at 11 A.M. at the funeral home, with entombment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Gardens. Donations may be made in Clara's memory to the ASPCA or Grace Hospice, or, for your own personal remembrance, feed the birds, plant a lilac bush or a honeysuckle vine.
