Roberts, Charles "Pat", 79 of Hilliard, OH passed away at Kobacker House in Columbus on January 12, 2016. Pat was born on March 17, 1936 in Springfield, OH and spent his youth there. He graduated from Springfield Catholic Central, and Ohio University, and later obtained a master's degree from Central Michigan University. Pat also served honorably in the United States Army. Pat worked at International Harvester for 23 years, leaving as Plant Manager. While in Springfield, he served on the Northeastern School Board, and was the first president of the Kenton Ridge Band Parents Association. He taught economics at Clark State University, Urbana College, OSU Branch at Lima, OH, Sinclair College and Catholic Central High School. Pat then worked for General Dynamics Land Systems for 12 years, producing 10,000 M1A1 tanks used in Desert Storm and other conflicts. Pat served his final years for GDLS in Cairo, Egypt, working as the program manager with the Egyptian government and the tank program. Pat then retired to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where he realized his dream of playing golf every day, becoming club champion at Oyster Reef Golf Club. During this time, he joined the American Volunteers of Senior Executives, reopening a manufacturing facility in Yugoslavia. Pat then moved to Hilliard some years ago where he lived the remaining years of his life. Pat is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maggie; two daughters, Mary Margaret "Molly" (Jim) Baldwin, of Fairfield Twp., OH, and Mary Ellen "Ellen: (Jon) Osler, of Hilliard, OH; four grandchildren, James and Catherine Baldwin, and Joel and Sean Osler. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Buddy and Danny Roberts. Family will greet friends at CONROY FUNERAL HOME, Springfield, OH on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Service of Roman Catholic Mass will be held at St. Raphael Church, Springfield, OH on Saturday at 10 a.m. Entombment will be held at St. Bernard Cemetery, Springfield, OH. A gathering after the service will be held at Northwood Hills - Elks, Springfield, OH, at 12:30 p.m. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Kenton Ridge High School Band.
