BENSTON, Charles J. "Chuck", 92, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 in Forest Glen. He was born February 22, 1922 in Springfield the son of Charles and Rose (Malley) Benston. Chuck was an assistant supervisor at Wickham Piano Plate for 20 years retiring in 1983, was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a US Army veteran having served in WWII. In retirement, he became an avid bowler and volunteered at the Heritage Center. Survivors include his wife, Anne; five children, Kathleen (Michael) Murphy, John Michael (Nancy) Benston, Mark S. (Carol) Benston, Dennis A. (Sherry) Benston and David P. (Paula) Benston; two step children, Bob (Kimberly) Snodgrass and Michelle (Todd) Brunner; ten grandchildren, Shawn, Kevin, Jessica, Joe, Stephanie, Abby, Hannah, Daniel, Chase and Connor; six great grandchildren, Nick, Haley, Max, Riley, Alex and Kelly; three siblings, Patricia Segbers, Jean Russell and Bill Benston and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan, grandson, Charles, brothers, Raymond and Robert and four sisters, Millie Foreman, Dorothy O'Neal, Mary Collins and Elizabeth Bradford. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Monday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association.
