Charles H. Gruntz, Jr.

Gruntz, Charles H., Jr., 86, of the Indian Lake area, died Monday, November 4, 2013 in The Ohio State University Medical Center. He was born June 9, 1927 to the late Charles H. Sr. and Dorothy Mae (Welsh) Gruntz. Charles graduated from Springfield High School and served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Harmony Lodge #8 F. & A.M., Antioch Temple, Grand Council Royal and Select Masons of Ohio, Council #59 and Chapter #34, Raper Commandery #19 Knights Templar of Urbana, Ohio, and a life member of AmVets #39. He loved boating, square dancing and made many good friends and fellowships from them. He worked in retail for many years and was a retired owner/operator of Gruntz, IGA in Urbana, Ohio. Charles is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mildred; two children, Stephanie (Barry) Graul, Clarkston, MI, Charles Sanford "Sandy" Gruntz, Huntsville, OH; his loving in-laws, Sandra (Scott) Capps and Linda Badgley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell E. Gruntz. Funeral service will be held in the chapel at Rose Hill Burial Park at 1:30 PM Friday with Pastor Jeff Mullinix officiating. Family will receive friends one-half hour prior in the chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Antioch Shriners Burn Center, Cincinnati, OH or the Diabetes Association. Arrangements handled by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
