Catherine "Kay" Phenegar

PHENEGAR, Catherine "Kay" Margaret, 80, of Urbana, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in her home. Kay was born August 5, 1937 in Springfield, Ohio to William D. and Helen (Herzog) Orndorff. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and Community Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from Mercy Medical Center as an LPN after many years, and was a member of St. Bernard Church. Kay will be remembered as a devoted wife and beloved mother with a kind spirit and beautiful smile. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family and will be deeply missed. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Walter Phenegar; three children, Brian (Kori) Phenegar, Kevin Phenegar and Karen (Tim) Duke; six grandchildren, Adam and Rachel Duke, Dillan Phenegar, Evan Phenegar, Nathan Phenegar and Quinn Phenegar; two great grandchildren, Jae and Aaliyah Duke; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Eugene Orndorff. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Fr. Dan Hunt officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Champaign County Animal Welfare League.
