KNIGHT, Carolyn S., 82, formerly of Springfield, passed away December 6, 2017 in Legacy Village in Xenia. She was born March 8, 1935 in Springfield the daughter of the late John Francis and Susan (Shaw) Capen. Carolyn owned and operated Mini School Day Care, had worked at Fairyland Castle for a number of years prior to that and was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Chiefland, FL. Carolyn was a member of Catholic Ladies of Columbia #56, VFW #5625, Amvets Ladies Auxiliary #422, Women of the Moose Suwanee River #494 and the Suwanee River Cruisers. Later in life Carolyn received her GED and overcame her fear of water and learned to swim. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, square dancing, crafts and travel camping (sightseeing the USA) but her true love was caring for children. Survivors include five children and their spouses, Angela & Michael Coons, Xenia, OH, Bill Knight, Springfield, OH, Linda & Lee McGee, Springfield, OH, Carolann & Dan Olson, Mesa, AZ and Donovan & Charlene Knight, Springfield, OH; 15 grandchildren, Matthew and Jeremiah Coons, Roland W. II, Christopher, Bryan, Aydin and Blake Knight, Kristina Hall, Jason McGee, Ayla Humphrey, William Lemen, April Steiner, Jennifer Sisk, Dustin and Patrick Knight; 24 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jane & Sam Day; sister-in-law, Carolyn Capen and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland in 2001, brother, John "Jack" Capen, and beloved aunt and uncle, William and Thelma Capen. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
