JOHNSON, Carolyn, local Springfield artist, died Tuesday, July 12, 2017 at the Springfield Masonic Home. She was born April 14, 1924 in Bonnyman, Ky., the daughter of A.M. and Vivian R. Moore. Carolyn is survived by her 2 children, Jan L. (Dan) Clark, John H. (Kate) Geerlings; three stepchildren, Jeanne (Charles) Brandon, Barbara (Bruce) Miles, Judy (Tom) Tropp; her sister Nancy Lee Agopian, brother Roger (Victoria) Moore; 2 grandchildren, Jake and Matt Geerlings , 8 step grandchildren, Diane Gamstetter, Doug Brandon, Kathy Anuci, Nancy Farley, Adam Tropp, Allison Freyhof, Danielle Baca, Derek Evilsizor; 16 step great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Carolyn was an accomplished painter/watercolorist who taught at the Springfield Art Museum, Clark State Community College and was past president of the Western Watercolor Society. She shared her love of painting with her students, colleagues, family, and friends. A memorial service will be held Aug 5th at the Masonic Home in the chapel at 11 A.M. with Rev. Bruce Vincent officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Dayton National Cemetery with her husband Clarence E. Johnson. Arrangements by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
