McCOY, Carole Anne Amalia, died April 29, 2018 at 6:18 a.m. Born December 21, 1936 in Marquette, Michigan on her maternal grandmother's sixty-first birthday, she was the daughter of the late Richard George and Sally Eleanor Holmes. A graduate of Wittenberg University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Education degree in guidance and counseling, Carole taught at Clark Junior High School in Springfield, and served as a guidance counselor at Olive Branch Junior High School, Tecumseh High School and Northeastern High School in Clark County. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving as president from 1976-77 and as treasurer from 2001 until she resigned just before her death. She was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and the Clark County Heritage Museum. Carole was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and enjoyed the bi-annual reunions with her pledge class mates as they met all over the country. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lawrence Edward McCoy; her daughter Melissa Lee (John) Horn of Louisville, Kentucky; her son, Larry Scott (Katherine) McCoy of Melbourne, Florida; two grandsons, Taylor Edward Mitchell Horn and Alec Richard Louis (Sydney) Horn of Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters, Mary Catherine (Jack) Parmater of Macon, Georgia, Ruth Ann (Wayne) Williams of Lansing, Michigan; and nieces Tama Ann Curtis of Macon, Georgia, Amanda Lynn Pugh of Lansing, Michigan, Shelley Ann (Ben) Mannino-Marosi of Lansing, Michigan, and nephew Troy John Parmater of Schenectady, New York, and several grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard George Holmes, III. Burial services will be private. A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be made to First Lutheran Church or Wittenberg University. Arrangements by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
