Kelly, Carol A., 85, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born September 3, 1930 in Springfield to Frank M. and Gertrude H. (Miller) Oswald. She was a 1948 graduate of Catholic Central and a long-time member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Mercy Medical Center Quilt Group and TWIG II. She made rosaries for over 50 years and was a caring and giving person who took care of several ill relatives in her home. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, John; four children, Christine Callahan, Joseph (Heidi) Kelly, Kathleen (Michael) Bassell and Mary (Steve) Cornell; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; special cousins, Peggy Shields and Nancy Klenke; several nieces and nephews; her dog, Beau and special friend, Iva Hinkle. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark; her son-in-law, James T. Callahan and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James W. and Jane Kelly. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. John MacQuarrie and Fr. Louis Asobi at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Bernard Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Carol Oswald Kelly scholarship in care of the Clark State Foundation, Animal Welfare League, St. Bernard Church or St. Teresa Church.
