Johnston, J. Farrell "Bud", 83, of Springfield, died Monday, August 12, 2013 at Villa Springfield. He was born March 26, 1930 in Dayton, OH to J. Farrell and Dorothy G. (Gibbons) Johnston, Sr. Bud worked as a District Manager for Blue-Cross and Blue Shield of Cincinnati for 17 years and later worked for Aetna Life and Annuities for a number of years. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, attended the University of Notre Dame and was a Veteran of the United States Navy, where he served in the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Helen M. (Grilliot) Johnston of Springfield; three children, Bradley (Angel) Johnston of Springfield, Jennifer (Todd) Baader Holm of Stafford, VA, and Ann Marie (Maura) Johnston of Cincinnati; three brothers and sisters, Barbara Ann Lesko Gummersall of Seattle, WA, Susanna H. Johnston Versandi of Tampa, FL and Robert P. Johnston of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, Adam (Heather) Johnston, Shawn Johnston, Ashley (Adam) Davis, Kyle Johnston, Cassandra (Nicholas) Lewis and Michael Baader, and one great grandson, Quinn Johnston, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by one grandson, Peter J. Baader, and a son-in-law, James W. Baader. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Thomas Ericksen and staff, and the staff of Villa Springfield and Grand Court. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:00 am in St. Teresa Church. Burial will be at St. Bernard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to St. Teresa Church or your favorite charity.
