Billy J. Bennett

Bennett, Billy J., 79, of Springfield, died February 16, 2015 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born April 24, 1935 in Owensboro, KY to Herschel Griffith and Thelma (Crabtree) Bennett. Billy was a 1953 graduate of Davis County High School and 1957 graduate of the University of Kentucky. He retired in 1993 from Stuart Pharmaceuticals after 27 years as a pharmaceutical representative. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Sarasota, FL, coached Little League Baseball for 9 years at Patterson Park, Kettering, OH, was a member and Past President of the Springfield Adult Tennis Association, played in the Geritol Golf League at Snyder Park, and was an avid University of Kentucky and Green Bay Packers Fan, and enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. Survivors include his three children and spouses, Carey (Mike) McKee, Urbana, OH, Griff (Michelle) Bennett, Spring Valley, OH, and Norman (Julie) Bennett, Maineville, OH; five grandchildren, Doug Wagner, Kristen, Benjamin, Michael and Zachary Bennett; siblings, Donnie (Marian) Bennett, Shirley Robertson, Owensboro, KY, Martha (Gary) Hall, Indiana, David (Jennifer) Bennett, Jamestown, OH, and Kim (Barry) King, Owensboro, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. in 2014. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday in the Conroy Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Newell officiating. Family will receive friends two hours prior, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Private burial will be Saturday in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial donations in Billy's name may be made to your favorite charity.
